15 November 2024
ESS Utgård
UTC timezone

The next Over T/Here visit is scheduled for November 15th. These visits take place a few times per year and they are an opportunity for MAX IV and ESS staff to visit each other's facilities, meet some of the staff, and exchange knowledge.

Come and see the ESS Detector lab at Utgård, the specialist off-site ESS Detector laboratory.

PLEASE NOTE: NOT at main ESS campus!

The lab is ~1300 m2 and includes a technical workshop for readout, the main hall with several test benches for detector testing and integration, storage rooms, a mechanical workshop and a new office area (open space) and a large meeting area.

Most people at ESS do not know that Utgård exists (especially the newcomers). The space was originally rented by ESS in 2016 for several groups to use (accelerator, Integrated Control Systems, Sample Environment) until the on-site labs become ready. The other groups moved to the site around 2021 as their lab spaces became available. Thus, since 2021 Utgård has now became entirely the ESS detector lab.

The visit begins promptly at 14.30 at the ESS Utgård Detector Lab. Please be on time, you won't be able to join if you arrive late. The visit consists of a tour, followed by a short fika. Two hours are scheduled for the event.

Anyone at MAX IV is welcome to sign up, especially if you have never been to ESS.  Limit of 15 participants.
