The course "EXAFS for beginners" will be given at the MAX IV Laboratory in Lund 13-23 April. The course gives a comprehensive introduction for tentative EXAFS users at MAX IV Laboratory, and provides the basic concepts of EXAFS spectroscopy experiment design, theory and data analysis. Participants will also be given an opportunity to perform experiments at the I811 beamline at the MAX IV Laboratory. See the preliminary schedule for more information.

The course is free of charge for participants from academia. The number of participants is limited to 25 and priority will be given to applicants from Swedish universities, but a limited number of places will be reserved for applicants from universities outside Sweden. A limited number of spaces will also be available to non-academic participants at a fee of 15 000 SEK.

When applying for the course, please provide a short CV and a description of the importance of EXAFS for your scientific projects in order to facilitate the selection of participants.  

Participants are responsible for organizing their own travel and accommodation.

Computers

Participants are expected to bring a laptop computer for the analysis exercises with the following specifications:

• MS Windows with X windows server package (e.g. Xming, Cygwin, Hummingbird or    X-WIN32). We do not support Mac or Linux computers.

• EXAFSPAK installed
