Description

On March 21-23, 2016, more than 100 Swedish scientists and more than 30 leading international scientists met in Stockholm for the SXL Workshop. The aim of this workshop was to discuss the science that could be conducted at a Soft X-ray Laser beamline at MAX IV, built in the existing short pulse facility and using the 3 GeV linear accelerator.

The intention was to develop a science-case document to be presented to the board of directors and to the scientific advisory committee at MAX IV Laboratory, and to the main funding agencies in Sweden. The workshop consisted of plenary talks, science talks in parallel sessions followed by walk-up talks (3 minutes / 1-2 slides), discussions and writing in break-out groups organised in the following areas:

Atomic and Molecular Science, Chemistry, Condensed Matter Physics, Novel Spectroscopy and Scattering, Life Sciences and FEL Science.

The science case has now been compiled and it can be downloaded here.
