The aim of this workshop is to discuss user’s wishes and expectations for diffraction beamline(s) at MAX IV in terms of science, experimental setup(s), specifications and integration in their respective work-fields in order to identify which technical solutions the beamline(s) should offer.
As already proposed in the strategic report in 2012 (click here for the PDF), MAX IV should offer (a) beamline(s) with capability for powder, single crystal and grazing incidence diffraction. The different diffraction techniques have different requirements in terms of beam characteristics, diffractometer performance, and/or sample environment. Choosing the fitting design for all the components will be critical to best serve the existing user community as well as provide possibility to expand using the unique properties of the MAX IV source. In this workshop we wish to offer users an opportunity to influence the design of the beamline(s) at an early stage. The outcome of the workshop should serve as input to the MAX IV Laboratory process for selecting the beamlines to be included in the Phase IIb application that will be submitted in March 2014.
The workshop is open to our user community, but registration in advance is required. The number of attendees is limited to 50, and participation will be on a first come first serve basis.

In order to promote discussion and allow everyone to express their wishes on this short workshop, there will be a poster session before dinner. We invite the present and future users of diffraction at MAX IV to present a poster showing how they want to use the future beamline(s) for their own research.

Accomodation will be organised in single and double rooms, single rooms will be available on a first come first serve basis, however you will be able to book a single room for an extra fee (see registration page).
