We welcome you to participate in the Structural Biology workshop where we would like to gather input from the scientific community on how MAX IV can optimally support the field of structural biology in the future. What will be the role of macromolecular crystallography, X-ray scattering, X-ray spectroscopy and other techniques? How should the MAX IV facilities develop in the coming decade?

In the context of the MAX IV process of developing a science-driven Strategy and Roadmap to guide the MAX IV development during the period 2023–2030, a number of Strategy workshops are organized to solicit community input to finalize the full strategy by mid 2022. Please note that there is a deadline on Nov 18th for submitting expression of intent (proposals for beamlines/instruments) as input to the Roadmap of major new items such as new beamlines.

This workshop aims at collecting input from various stakeholders on the future direction of MAX IV in the field of Structural Biology. We invite the user community, representatives of Swedish universities, industry and others interested. A part of the program is dedicated to short presentations of developments relevant for structural biology at MAX IV and it will also be open for short presentations (a few minutes) by participants who would like to give their view on how MAX IV should develop. If you would like to contribute with a 3-5 minutes presentation please send an email to Thomas Ursby (thomas.ursby@maxiv.lu.se), latest on October 20th.There will also be ample time for discussion.

Please note that at this year’s MAX IV User Meeting (Oct 25-27) there will be a focus on the strategy with sessions on Tuesday (Oct 26) afternoon highlighting possible future developments in different science areas, including a session on Health and Medicine. Wednesday afternoon will be dedicated to the MAX IV strategy.
